The Rockies will get moderate to heavy snow Thursday and Friday, the weather service warned. Much of Colorado and Utah will experience snow Thanksgiving night and into Friday morning, while Wyoming could get a foot by Friday night. Emma Belcher of AccuWeather stated, “Snow is expected to start in the northern Rockies on Thanksgiving Day but spread southeastward into Friday and Saturday, encompassing most of the southern Rockies.” AccuWeather predicts 2-4 inches of snow in Denver, a key airline hub. The weather service predicts 3 inches at the airport on Thanksgiving Day.
According to AccuWeather, mountain passes along Interstate 70 in Colorado may accumulate snow, making them treacherous. After a Tuesday night shooting that killed two and injured five, Interstate 95 near the Betsy Ross Bridge was closed for at least four hours in Philadelphia on Wednesday morning. According to USA TODAY, 34-year-old Philadelphia activist and musician Keenan Hudson planned to drive to New York early to see relatives for Thanksgiving, but traffic caused him to turn around. Hudson claimed traffic was bad for an hour after the closure. “It’s pushing all of the highway traffic to the city traffic,” Hudson. “It’s bad because it’s backed up due to the school and people getting out early.”
Anesthesiologist Alison Perate, 46, of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, said her commute took an hour and 15 minutes, 35 minutes longer than typical. “We were sitting in dead stand-still traffic,” she told USA TODAY. On 95, every day is an adventure. I’m used to it, unfortunately, “Perate said. “But this morning was special.”
