The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program has been an important monthly payments for millions of Americans across the country. This federally funded program aims to help American families meet their daily needs and buy nutritious foods.
In a published article in the Atlanta Daily World, state officials released an update on matters concerning the SNAP benefits in Georgia. They said that the SNAP benefits will again be delayed and is not expected to be received on Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

What are the Reasons Behind the Delayed SNAP Benefits?
According to a published article in 11ALIVE, there are a lot of factors that affect the distribution of SNAP benefits in the state. These include the year-long backlog for processing applications, and payments, and the shortage of staff in the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS).
Ty Jones, Vice President for Food Assistance for the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, said, “SNAP helps families put nutritious food on the table. When SNAP benefits are delayed or taken away, it does real harm. A mom may be forced to choose between paying the bills and feeding her family. A child may go to bed hungry. And over time we know that not getting enough nutritious food to eat affects a child’s health and how well they do in school.”
