The Minnesota Department of Revenue announced that it will reissue a new round of one-time tax rebates to 150,000 eligible taxpayers.
One-Time Tax Rebates in Minnesota
The Minnesota Department of Revenue has already released one-time tax rebates early this year, but there are still around 150,000 eligible taxpayers who were not able to claim their payments. This could be because they might have junked mail or they did not update their addresses.
In a published article in the KIPLINGER, the revenue department will reissue a new round of one-time tax rebate checks to those who accidentally tossed their checks in the crash. The Minnesota Department of Revenue said, “Any unclaimed one-time rebate payments will eventually be handed over to the Minnesota Department of Commerce’s Unclaimed Property Division.”

How Much Will You Receive from One-Time Tax Rebates?
According to an article published in CBC News, the Minnesota Department of Revenue continues to contact eligible taxpayers who were not able to claim their payments. Meanwhile, those who are qualified will receive the following:
- Single filers making up to $75,000 are eligible for a payment of $260.
- Joint filers making up to $150,000 are eligible for a payment of $520
- You must have been a Minnesota resident in 2021 to receive the full payment. (Part-year residents may receive a partial rebate, but eligibility is based on income.)
- If someone claimed you as a dependent on a 2021 tax return, you won’t qualify for the rebate check.
Furthermore, the claimed rebate checks will be considered unclaimed properties and be turned over to the state of Minnesota.
