Authorities have taken a suspect into custody in relation to a shooting in Vermont in May that left one man dead and another injured.

In a released report from AP News, the Vermont State Police stated that Devon Dennis, 43 years old from Hartford, Connecticut, was detained on Saturday when he boarded a plane from Jamaica and arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York the alleged suspect of shooting in Vermont.
Dennis is being held in jail until his initial court appearance in Queens County Criminal Court next week. He will be returned to Vermont to stand trial for attempted and second-degree murder. A defense lawyer identified in court documents was contacted by email and asked for comment.
On May 12, a man named Juan Sierra, 27, from Springfield, Massachusetts was fatally shot in Brookfield, Vermont. He suffered a gunshot wound to the torso and was declared dead on the spot.
Despite being shot as well, 29-year-old Miguel Fuentes of Springfield, Massachusetts, drove away from the crime site and received treatment from a bystander several miles away, according to police. The onlooker dialed 911. He survived after being transported to the hospital.

Investigators: Drugs Were a Factor in the Shooting
Dennis was recognized by police as a suspect, and they discovered that he had left Connecticut’s Bradley International Airport on May 13 for Jamaica. On Saturday, when he returned from Jamaica, he was welcomed at the airport and taken into custody by representatives from Homeland Security Investigations, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the New York City Police Department, and the United States. U.S. Marshals Service and U.S. Border & Customs Protection.
