New Orleans Carjacking

The arrest of Ahmad Seals, 18, was announced by the NOPD three hours after it was originally reported by Fox 8. Seals was charged with three counts of armed robbery with a handgun. An accused accomplice, 16, was also detained and charged with three counts of armed robbery with a firearm, one count of illegal possession of a firearm by a juvenile, and possessing a handgun during the commission of a violent felony. The 16-year-old’s identity will not be made public unless his case is transferred to adult court.

With Williams as the victim in this case, his office is expected to disqualify itself and delegate prosecution to the state Attorney General’s office. The teenagers are also accused of a second carjacking, this time of a woman in the 1800 block of Carondelet Street, just 20 minutes after the Williams carjacking in the 1000 block of Race Street. The NOPD said its officers and detectives worked with Louisiana State Police and FBI agents on Tuesday to execute “multiple search warrants” in conjunction with the investigation. According to the police, Seals and the younger kid “were located and arrested without incident.”

According to NOPD Reports

Williams said he and his 78-year-old mother were pushed from their SUV near the DA’s house in the Lower Garden District at 10 p.m. on Oct. 16. Raymond Rochon III, 18, was arrested last Wednesday in connection with the case after NOPD officers said he was spotted driving a stolen truck used in the carjacking the morning following Williams’ carjacking. Rochon was arrested on firearms and stolen vehicle charges, but not for being present when Williams was abducted.

Williams and his mother were not hurt in the event, and neither was the woman who was carjacked later on Carondelet Street. Williams claimed to have seen three people involved in the crime’s commission. Seals is scheduled to appear in court for the first time on Wednesday, when a magistrate may set his bond. It is unknown when the younger adolescent will appear in Orleans Parish Juvenile Court for the first time.
