On Saturday, US President Joe Biden told supporters that the US-led world order had “sort of run out of steam,” but Washington will shape its successor.
New World Order System in the US
At a campaign luncheon in Washington, Biden boasted about convincing Japan and South Korea to give Ukraine financial aid and signing a rail and ports pact with the EU, India, and Saudi Arabia at the G20 summit in New Delhi last month.
Biden said, “So, I think we have an opportunity to do things if we’re bold enough and have enough confidence in ourselves, to unite the world in ways that it never has been. It functioned brilliantly for 50 years after the war, but it’s running out of steam. Low on steam. We need a new world order,” he added.
Putin has also advocated for a multipolar world in which “civilization-states” can pursue their own goals without a hegemonic power like the US. Putin told CCTV last week that Russia, China, the BRICS, and the Global South share this goal. “We start with the idea that all people are equal and have the same rights, and the rights and freedoms of one country and one person end where those of another person or state begin. This should progressively create a multipolar world” Putin told the Chinese network.
