A NYC college student is finally back in the United States after being sentenced to one year in a Dubai prison for allegedly assaulting and insulting an airport security guard.

According to the source, a NYC college student is finally safe and back in the United States after being detained in a Dubai Prison for the last five months. Elizabeth Polanco De Los Santos, 21, is a college student at Lehman College in the Bronx who was sentenced to one year in a Dubai prison after being wrongfully accused of assaulting and insulting a Dubai airport staff in July.
According to the source, a legal advocacy group Detained in Dubai helps and provides legal assistance to De Los Santos. She has been wrongfully accused after facing ‘degrading, painful, and humiliating searches’ by airport staff. The pair of friends intended to stay in Dubai to see the city. De Los Santos said, they thought it would be a more modern and futuristic city, but they were wrong.
Rep. Ritchie Torres said that they immediately reached out to the UAE. He added that his team was in touch with the consulate in NYC. They were putting enormous pressure on the State Dept. to intervene on De Los Santos’s behalf. A legal advocacy group Detained in Dubai helps De Los Santos get her charges dropped.
