A River North shooting took place when a robber attempted to steal the belongings of the victim at a gas station and the two then exchanged gunfire.
Attempted Robbery Leads to River North Shooting
According to ABC Chicago, a robbery attempt at a gas station in the 700 block of North Wells Street led to a River North shooting around 10 in the morning on Saturday.
The investigators of the River North shooting stated that a 48-year-old man was at the gas station when a grey sedan vehicle drove up and parked next to him, the offender then got out of the vehicle and entered the victim’s SUV to steal his belongings. Police additionally stated that the victim confronted the robber and that was when the River North shooting broke out.
Residents on Edge Due to River North Shooting
WGNTV reports that, fortunately, no one was injured during the River North shooting at the gas station. However, residents of the area and people who are the customers of the said gas station were on edge.
James Fitch, one of the residents stated that he was astonished by the River North shooting as he came to the gas station almost every day. He additionally stated that someone has to put a finger on the shooting problem in Chicago.
Police stated that the offender of the robbery had not been arrested. However, police officers are still investigating the River North shooting.
