Winter’s Fury: 35 Inches of Snow Expected in Washington and Oregon – What You Need to Know

A large winter storm is widespread through the northwest Pacific and can be one of the heaviest snowfall in Washington and Oregon. The National Meteorological Service has published a winter storm guard for both states, warning that some areas may collect up to 35 inches of snow by Friday night. Today, with the hope of falling later, the emergency services are preparing for widespread disturbance, while citizens are encouraged to take care beyond the storm.

The blizzard will affect the mountain areas including Cascade and Olympic mountains, with a slightly high height to look up to three meters of ice. In the low areas including the coast of Western Washington and Oregon, the snowfall sum can reach 6 to 12 inches. These snow levels can lead to dangerous travel conditions, with icy roads and visibility problems making the journey dangerous.

Snowchwalmi Pass of Washington, a large route connecting Seattle to the east, is expected to be much affected by a blizzard. Drivers are recommended to postpone the trip if possible, as snow accumulation on the roads will make driving reliable. Services also warn of the possibility of electric power outages, especially in rural areas where heavy ice can reduce wood organs and electric lines.

In Oregon, cities such as Portland and Eugene break for lower snow, but heavy snow can still affect the daily routine. While Portland is not expected to see the depth of snow similar to the mountainous regions, the city is preparing for several inches of snow accumulation, which can cause major disruption in schools, public transport and local businesses.

Meteorologists also carefully adhere to the weather patterns for potentially rapid temperature drops, which can be calculated and more complicated for the travel situation. This mixture of heavy snow and cold rain can lead to dangerous roads, especially when the temperature is expected to fall at night. Residents are recommended to prepare an emergency set, make sure winter clothes are appropriate,e and make the necessary before the storm is reinforced.

In addition to ice, Gusti winds are expected, especially with high altitude and in coastal areas. Air gust can reach 40 mph, which can cause the snow to flow and reduce visibility. The possibility of blowing ice will cause overall dangers, especially in the mountains and for drivers on coastal roads. Snoploz and other winter units are expected to be distributed around the clock to clean the main routes, but with the intensity of the storms, all ways can take time to be completely cleaned.

While blizzards are expected to be closed by Friday night, it is predicted that cold temperatures will roam this weekend. This means that ice can attach longer than normal, icy spots remain on roads and sidewalks. Residents are encouraged to be updated on the latest weather forecasts and take the necessary precautions to stay safe during this intense winter season.

Pacific Northwest is not a stranger to winter storm, but this storm is expected to pack a drag. When the blizzard comes, it is necessary to prepare for the worst and be informed of any new development. In some areas, up to 35 inches of snow was predicted, it is a storm that you will not understand less. Stay safe, be ready and monitor the forecast for any update on this powerful winter system.
