The U.S. Navy chided the Iranian Navy after a vessel pointed lasers against a U.S. helicopter that was operating in the Persian Gulf on Wednesday, September 27. The U.S. Military then called the action “unsafe, unprofessional, and irresponsible.”
Iranian Navy Shone Laser to U.S. Helicopter
According to POLITICO, the Iranian Navy shone a laser toward the U.S. Marine Corps AH-1Z Viper when it was operating in international airspace.
It was stated by the article that this is the 6th time the Iranian Navy has targeted a helicopter associated with the Bataan with lasers. The last time following this occurrence was in 2017, in which the Iranian Navy patrol boat used lasers against a Marine helicopter moving through the Strait of Hormuz.

US Navy Chides Iranian Navy for Shining Laser at U.S. Helicopter
Military Times reports that the U.S. Navy rebuked the Iranian Navy for their actions of shining a laser which the U.S. Navy called unsafe and unprofessional.
To be specific, Commander Rick Chernitzer of the U.S. Naval Forces Central Command stated that the actions of the Iranian Navy were not the actions of a professional maritime force. He additionally stated that the behavior of the Iranian Navy was unsafe and irresponsible which risked the U.S. and the partner nations’ lives.
