Sergei Medvedev’s Answers
According to an article from Georgia Today, here are some questions and answers during the interview with Sergei Medvedev.
How weak is Russia and what influence still have on this region?
Sergei Medvedev said that Russia is still strong and enjoyed centuries of dominance in the region. It has seen a lot of Georgian politics in Russian influence. It will continue putting pressure on Georgia, both militarily through South Ossetia and Abkhazia- also via hybrid influence from Russian corruption, partnerships, agents, economics, and so on. It’s still dangerous and powerful. Georgia will be one of the objectives.
Russia vs. Ukraine War
Sergei Medvedev said- “If Ukraine wins the war, and Russia will accept the defeat- this will lead to transformation and reform in Russia. It will be like Russia is accepting the defeat against Afghanistan, as well as Russia’s defeat against Japan. So, Russia has an experience losing on the battlefields.”
Are West won’t be tempted toward another Russia reset?
Sergei Medvedev thinks that the West will give up on Russia. There was possibly limited engagement with the West. He sees this scenario as a protracted decay, irrespective of winning or losing the fight in Ukraine.
Stalement or frozen conflict
Sergei Medvedev said that Ukraine will still get assistance from West.
Is Russia can survive in its current form?
Sergei Medvedev answered- “Russia can’t survive in its current form because it has given up on development. Russia can survive for another 20-30 years, there’s still enough oil demand in the world. However, big oil revolutions are going on- with claims the world will give up oil in 2050, especially now with this war.” Sergei Medvedev predicted that Russia still has a quarter century to stew in this condition.
