Pitiful looking street dog scavenging to survive for more than year rescued as hearts unite to help

A pitiful looking street dog dubbed Monty had been suffering for a long time. His heartbreaking story began more than a year ago when a Good Samaritan noticed him in her neighborhood roaming the streets scavenging for food. Most people thought Monty was a stray, but he always seemed to return to the driveway of a specific house.

That particular homeowner where the dog waited near the porch next to the driveway, was asked if the dog belonged to him or if he knew where the dog lived; and of course the answer at that time was no. Monty was already skinny and his fur already matted, but somehow he had been surviving. No one seemed to know much about him nor had he been seen again.

And life went on while Monty tried his best to survive.

And now fast forward, and that same person who saw Monty a year ago, spotted Monty again, but this time the dog’s physical condition had completely deteriorated, and the dog was in awful shape. The woman posted on social media asking for help, stating she had spotted the dog in her neighborhood about a year and a half prior, and then one day she could no longer find him.

And then just like that … she saw him, gave him some food and shared on social media but no one responded; that is until ThisIsHouston stepped up to help.

one eye looks missing or just closed up, his back nails are so long that he limps on his back feet, his skin is bad and he looks tired. I am going to get him tonight if he’s out in the morning. i would just like for him to lay in a soft bed and not hurt.

The people who owned the shop next door to the house Monty had previously been spotted at, told the Good Samaritan the dog was owned by them, and he had been their dog since he was a puppy.

… horrible place for animals. So many people lacking the compassion gene just like the owners of this poor dog who let him deteriorate to this condition.

Monty could not have survived much longer, and it was just too painful for anyone who saw the dog to leave him with his supposed owners.

The Good Samaritan knew she needed to find him help this time, and she did. We became involved and he was picked up on Monday and has been at the ER since.

Sadly, Monty is just one of so many dogs who are still out here and who will continue to be neglected and abused. At least, Monty is getting help, and we can’t stress enough that saving one dog at a time truly means the world to that dog.
