The new Dodge Charger will roll off the line in Ontario, Canada, not Michigan.
Dodge killed the Charger and Challenger in 2023. However, just two short years later, the automaker announced the Charger’s return, this time as an EV or a turbocharged six-cylinder affair. However, even with retro American muscle car looks, the new Charger is a Canadian citizen.
The new 2025 Dodge Charger is an American muscle car– from Canada
Dodge bills the new 2025 Dodge Charger as the “world’s only electric muscle car.” It’s a label that some of the brand’s critics reject, given the lack of a Hemi V8 under the hood of the new Charger. Regardless of the Charger’s missing V8, the Hurricane inline-six-powered models will produce as much as 550 horsepower, outmuscling the R/T Scat Pack of the previous generation.
However, unlike its principal domestic competition, the Ford Mustang, the next-generation Charger isn’t built in Michigan. Instead, the 2025 Dodge Charger will roll off the line at the Windsor Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada.
The Stellantis-owned Windsor plant currently produces the Chrysler Pacifica minivan and Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV). However, the large plant will also be the new Canadian home of Dodge’s new Charger Daytona.
This isn’t the first time that Dodge built one of its performance cars in Canada. The Michigan automaker assembled the Challenger and Charger at the Brampton Assembly Plant in Ontario. In comparison, Chevrolet built the now-discontinued sixth-generation Camaro in Lansing, Michigan. Ford still builds its two-door coupe and convertible, the Mustang, in Flat Rock, Michigan.
On the other hand, Dodge hasn’t unveiled any plans to resurrect the Challenger. Still, the new Charger is available as a coupe in addition to a sedan. So fans of the Challenger’s retro aesthetic can still get a new Mopar with two doors. However, that long bonnet won’t be concealing a supercharged 6.2L or naturally aspirated 6.4L V8 like the previous models.
