Maybe this Amazon same day delivery thing has gotten a bit out of hand.
A shocking video caught a Tennessee Amazon delivery van sliding down a snowy hill and crashing into a building. The van couldn’t maintain its traction on the snow-covered Knoxville hill. What’s more, the Amazon van’s driver watched helplessly from the side of the road as the vehicle slid by.
Your Amazon delivery might be a bit late if it was on a van that slid into a building after it lost traction on a snowy hill
Amazon delivery vans are a regular sight on American roads. At the press of a button, customers can summon everything clothes, car parts, and everything in between. As a result, the retail giant’s vans run nearly constantly, in fair weather and icy, snowy roads. However, recent winter weather proved that an Amazon van is far from an all-terrain vehicle.
An Amazon Delivery Service Partner driver parked their van on a hill in Knoxville, Tennessee while making their deliveries. Unfortunately, the van’s tires were no match for the slick surface and decline on Yarnell Avenue. A video captured the van as it started sliding down the hill, picking up speed as it did.
Knoxville Police Department (KPD) Communications Manager Scott Erland said the van’s downhill run came to an end after it hit a “church’s outbuilding.” The small building sits just off the left-hand side of the avenue, down a steep drop. The van slid down the hill, veering left and crashing down into the structure.
Fortunately, the Amazon driver wasn’t in the vehicle at the time of the incident. The video shows the driver standing next to a portable toilet like those you would find at a construction site. Prudently, the driver didn’t attempt to recover the vehicle as it slid. Incidentally, Erland reported that no one sustained any injuries in the crash.
An Amazon spokesperson responded to media questions about the incident. “We’re thankful that no one was injured and we’ve reached out to the Christian Fellowship Church to apologize for this incident,” the spokesperson said. “We intend to support the Christian Fellowship Church if any repairs are needed.”
As expected, the driver received no sympathy from the internet after the incident. One commenter with no consideration for the driver’s duties responded on Instagram saying, “1st clue was to not drive on an icy road!” Another viewer joked, “So when [am] I supposed to get my package?”
