San Diego, CA – A High Wind Watch has been issued for Southern California, with powerful northeasterly winds expected across the region through Tuesday evening. Winds can reach up to 75 mph, posing significant risks to residents and travelers in affected areas.

According to the National Weather Service, this advisory will affect the valleys and mountains of San Diego County, the mountains of Riverside County and the Inland Empire. Winds are expected to peak Tuesday night into Wednesday night, especially near the foothills and mountain slopes. The strongest winds, up to 75 mph, are expected along coastal slopes and near Cajon Pass in San Bernardino County.

Officials have warned of tree damage, power outages and dangerous travel conditions for high-profile vehicles, especially on routes like Interstate 15 and Interstate 10. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items and stay indoors during periods of peak wind.

Temperatures will remain mild, with highs ranging from the mid 60s along the coast to the low 70s inland early this week. However, windblown dust and debris can reduce visibility and aggravate respiratory conditions.

Looking ahead, the situation is expected to calm down by late Thursday night, but residents are advised to monitor updates for possible changes. Emergency plans should be reviewed and travelers should proceed with caution.
