“He asked what I eat on the course,” Lexi Thompson stated in a 2020 interview with Golf Digest. “He said to add these peanut butter and banana sandwiches on wheat bread.”
In the recent published article by Golf Digest, Lexi Thompson’s trembling hands were the result of improper fueling on the golf course.
Adding protein from the peanut butter and complex carbs from the wheat bread to the sandwiches helped supply the continuous energy Lexi Thompson needed, and bananas provide an added energy boost due to their natural sugar content.
Lexi Thompson took Tiger’s advice and ate the sandwiches often throughout the round.
“I eat half of one every three holes to keep my energy level constant,” Lexi Thompson stated.
According to Golf Digest, he also advised her to eat before the round began. Lexi Thompson’s in-round hand shakiness improved after adhering to Tiger’s advise.
If you constantly feel tired late in your rounds, you may be under-fueling, as Lexi Thompson was. Increasing the amount and cadence of your on-course eating, as Thompson did, may be helpful.
