Ryan Vandermeer, 18, was arrested and faced multiple charges, including three counts of first-degree attempted murder, after he fired shots at three separate residences that were occupied between September 3 and 5.
Attempted Murder in Hillsborough
SOURCE– An 18-year-old Ryan Vandermeer faces multiple charges with two counts of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, two counts of second-degree unlawful possession of a gun, and three counts of third-degree endangering another person. He also faces charges with three counts of first-degree attempted murder, police said.
Last September 3 in the evening, the rear sliding glass door of a Robin Road residence was struck and shattered by a low-caliber bullet. Also, on the same evening, the 2nd-floor exterior of a Brookside Lane residence was struck by a low-caliber bullet. The Hillsborough detectives investigated the incidents. Last September 5 in the evening, the rear sliding glass door of a Gateway Boulevard residence was also struck by a medium-caliber bullet. Ryan Vandermeer was identified as a suspect in the three shooting incidents.
During the shooting incidents, no one was injured. Ryan Vandermeer was taken into custody without incident last Tuesday at his home on Falcon Boulevard, where the Hillsborough police officers executed a search warrant and retrieved firearms and ammunition. He was taken to the Somerset County Jail, where Ryan Vandermeer is lodged pending a detention hearing.
