Utica, OH – Central Ohio residents should prepare for snow showers and gusty winds as New Year’s Day brings a wintry start to 2025. Breezy conditions may cause low visibility, while roadways could become slick during the afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday’s high will hover around 37°F, with snow showers likely throughout the day. Winds from the west will reach speeds of 16 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph possible. Accumulation of less than half an inch is expected, but the combination of wind and snow could make travel conditions hazardous, especially along US Route 62.

Thursday will remain partly sunny, offering a temporary reprieve before snow returns Thursday night into Friday morning. A light accumulation is likely, with temperatures plummeting to the low 20s overnight. These conditions could impact morning commutes and New Year’s weekend travel plans.

Looking ahead, Friday may see additional snow showers before noon, followed by mostly cloudy skies. Daytime highs will only reach 29°F, while nighttime temperatures dip to a frigid 17°F.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local weather updates and exercise caution while traveling. Prepare vehicles with emergency kits, and check tires for icy conditions. Spotter activation is not currently expected, but those observing severe weather can report details to the National Weather Service.
