Indianapolis, IN – Rain is expected to sweep across much of Indiana tonight, dampening Christmas Eve plans for many residents. Areas like Terre Haute and the Indianapolis metro face an 80% chance of rain, while Columbus sits at 70%, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Forecasters predict the rain will persist into Christmas Day, accompanied by clouds and drizzle lasting through Thursday. Temperatures will remain unseasonably mild, with lows tonight in the mid-30s to low-40s and highs on Christmas reaching the mid-40s.
NWS officials advise holiday travelers to stay alert for slick roads and reduced visibility. Those in Lafayette, Muncie, and Kokomo, which have rain chances between 45% and 50%, should also plan for potential rain disruptions.
While a white Christmas seems unlikely, the above-normal temperatures might be welcome for last-minute holiday errands. Residents are encouraged to monitor local weather updates for any changes in the forecast.
