Quad Cities, IA – The Quad Cities area is gearing up for a cloudy and calm Christmas Eve, with patchy fog and freezing drizzle possible in some spots. Temperatures are expected to range from the mid-20s to mid-30s overnight.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, areas north of Interstate 80 may see freezing drizzle by morning, reducing visibility and creating slippery conditions on untreated roads. Residents planning holiday travel should remain cautious, especially during early hours.

Christmas Day will bring cloudy skies with a slight chance of light rain or drizzle. Highs are expected to reach the mid-30s to lower 40s, with light east winds keeping conditions calm but cool.

Those venturing outdoors for festivities should prepare for damp and chilly weather but can enjoy relatively mild temperatures compared to previous years. The foggy start and possible drizzle may create a festive atmosphere reminiscent of a classic holiday card.
