New York, NY – A light but scenic snowfall greeted residents across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut on Christmas Eve, with totals reaching up to 2.5 inches in some areas. Port Jervis, NY, recorded the highest accumulation at 2.5 inches, while Central Park saw just 1 inch.

According to the National Weather Service, snow totals decreased moving east, with Islip Airport reporting only 0.1 inches. In New Jersey, Wayne received 2 inches, making it one of the state’s highest totals. Connecticut cities, including Danbury and West Redding, saw accumulations of 1 inch each.

The snow began early Tuesday morning, affecting holiday travelers but creating a festive backdrop for Christmas Eve plans. Temperatures remained cold, ensuring snow-covered streets in areas with higher totals, though major disruptions were avoided.

Meteorologists predict no significant additional snowfall through the evening, with clearing skies expected by nightfall. Residents are advised to drive cautiously on untreated roads and enjoy the wintry scenery responsibly.
