HOUSTON, TX – A woman is in critical condition after being stabbed during a robbery near Shepherd Drive and Memorial Drive on Sunday night.
The incident occurred around 8:40 p.m. when the victim exited a Metro bus. According to police, the suspect followed her off the bus, robbed her at knifepoint, and stabbed her multiple times. Officers treated the woman at the scene before she was transported to a hospital by the Houston Fire Department. She is currently undergoing surgery.
Police obtained a description of the suspect and located him minutes later in the 4600 block of Center Street. The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended with assistance from a K9 unit and a helicopter. Evidence also linked the suspect to an earlier robbery at 6:30 p.m. near West Main and Montrose, where another victim was robbed at gunpoint.
The knife used in the stabbing was recovered; however, the firearm from the earlier robbery remains missing. Metro Police are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
