Tennessee: 1000-Lb sisters star Amy Slaton pleads guilty as she’s arrested at zoo after ‘camel bite’

TLC reality star Amy Slaton has accepted a plea agreement in a peculiar case that began with a reported camel bite and ended with drug charges at a Tennessee safari park.

The deal

Slaton, 37, pleaded guilty to two counts of simple possession in Crockett County Court, leading to:

  • An 11-month, 29-day suspended sentence with supervised probation
  • Mandatory alcohol and drug assessment
  • Required parenting classes
  • A $500 fine plus court costs
  • A ban from Tennessee Safari Park

The incident

The unusual case unfolded in September when Slaton visited Tennessee Safari Park. Park employees called emergency services after she reported being bitten by a camel while feeding animals from her vehicle. Responding officers from the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department discovered illegal substances in plain view during their investigation.

Reduced charges

Initial charges against the “1000-lb sisters” star included:

  • Illegal possession of Schedule I and IV drugs
  • Two counts of child endangerment

The child endangerment charges were ultimately dismissed as part of the plea agreement. Slaton had initially entered a not-guilty plea before accepting the deal.

According to the police report, “EMS has been dealing with the injury and the police are dealing with the illegal substances that were in plain view.”

This resolution marks the end of a legal battle that drew significant attention from fans of the TLC show, where Slaton has been a prominent figure. The reality star’s representatives have not issued any statement regarding the conclusion of the case.
