Watch: Flat earthers admit defeat after seeing 24-hour Antarctica sun

Prominent Content Creators Witness 24-Hour Sun Phenomenon, Marking Significant Shift in Long-Running Debate

In a remarkable turn of events that has sent ripples through the flat earth community, several prominent flat earth content creators have acknowledged the existence of the 24-hour Antarctic sun, a phenomenon they had long disputed. The admission came during a groundbreaking expedition to Antarctica, specifically designed to settle one of the most contentious points in the globe versus flat earth debate.

The final experiment

The watershed moment occurred on December 14 at Union Glacier Camp, when Jeran Campanella, host of one of the most followed flat earth channels on YouTube, made a striking admission during a midnight live stream.

“All right, guys, sometimes you are wrong in life,” Campanella told his viewers. “And I thought that there was no 24-hour sun; in fact, I was pretty sure of it.”

The expedition, dubbed “The Final Experiment,” was the brainchild of Colorado pastor Will Duffy, who organized the $35,000-per-person journey after discovering the flat earth movement on Facebook three years ago. The carefully planned venture brought together four flat earth advocates and four “globe earthers” in what Duffy hoped would “end this debate, once and for all.”

The significance of the expedition cannot be overstated. Antarctica has long been central to flat earth theory, with believers maintaining that the continent is actually an ice wall encircling other continents and containing the oceans. This belief system had previously rejected the possibility of 24-hour sunlight over Antarctica, despite scientific explanations about the earth’s tilt causing continuous daylight during summer months.

Mixed reactions and ongoing questions

While the expedition produced clear evidence of the 24-hour sun phenomenon, reactions among the flat-earth participants varied. Austin Whitsitt from the channel “Witsit Gets It” acknowledged being wrong about the 24-hour sun but maintained his openness to flat earth theories, suggesting there might be ways to reconcile the observation with existing beliefs.

“It is still dancing around high in the sky,” Whitsitt noted during the livestream. “Obviously some people think that what we were told is the truth, I don’t think that but I do think that people need to be honest and humble and be like, whoa, you know, we were wrong when we claimed that there was no 24-hour sun.”

Looking forward

The expedition has sparked introspection within the flat earth community. Lisbeth Acosta from FlatEarth Gang emphasized the importance of putting aside personal biases in the pursuit of truth. “I’ve seen a lot of vitriol, a lot of crashing out on both sides and it’s just like, are we here for truth or are we here to hold onto a narrative and ego?” she reflected.

The historic journey, facilitated by Antarctic Logistics & Expeditions, has effectively demolished one of the key arguments against the globe model, though some participants maintain that this single observation doesn’t completely resolve the broader debate about Earth’s shape. Nevertheless, the willingness of prominent flat earth advocates to publicly acknowledge this contradiction to their previous beliefs marks a significant moment in the ongoing discourse about Earth’s true form.
