Future of personal care: Japanese engineers unveil AI-powered ‘human washing machine’—here’s how it works

Future of personal care: Japanese engineers unveil AI-powered 'human washing machine'—here's how it works

A futuristic cleansing pod promises 15 minutes of total rejuvenation

In a groundbreaking leap blending technology with personal care, Japanese engineers have introduced the “Mirai Ningen Sentakuki,” an AI-powered human washing machine. This revolutionary device offers not just a physical cleanse but a mental refresh, all within 15 minutes.

A marvel born in Osaka

Developed by Science Co., an Osaka-based showerhead company, this high-tech pod merges cutting-edge cleaning technology with relaxation to create a futuristic hygiene solution.

How it works?

The device, resembling a fighter jet cockpit, delivers a fully automated and personalized cleansing experience:

  1. Users step into the pod, which fills partially with warm water.
  2. High-speed jets release microscopic air bubbles, creating pressure waves that deeply cleanse the skin.
  3. AI sensors monitor the user’s biological data in real time.
  4. The system adjusts the water temperature and plays calming videos tailored to the user’s emotional state, ensuring both body and mind are refreshed.

The innovation goes beyond physical hygiene. Electrodes embedded in the chair analyze the user’s mood, playing soothing videos to enhance relaxation. Science Co. describes it as a machine that not only “cleans the body” but also “washes the mind.”

Revisiting a 50-year-old concept

This futuristic design draws inspiration from a 1970s concept by Sanyo Electric Co. (now Panasonic Holdings Corp.), which debuted at the World Expo but never entered production. Science Co. has revitalized and modernized this vision for today’s world.

Public debut at Osaka Kansai Expo

The “human washing machine” is set to be a star attraction at the Osaka Kansai Expo. Up to 1,000 attendees may get the chance to experience this innovative technology firsthand.

Despite the buzz, Science Co. has yet to announce a release date or pricing for the machine, leaving potential buyers eager for more details.

A glimpse into the future of personal care

The Mirai Ningen Sentakuki highlights Japan’s dedication to technological innovation and wellness. By combining AI with personal hygiene, it offers a vision of a future where convenience meets holistic well-being.

As life becomes increasingly fast-paced, this AI-powered washing machine stands as a testament to human ingenuity, promising a solution that saves time while rejuvenating the mind and body. The Mirai Ningen Sentakuki could redefine personal care, setting a new standard for hygiene and relaxation.
