The Bay Area loves Coldplay.
That’s been true for decades, with Coldplay regularly drawing capacity crowds to its many gigs around these parts over the years.
And that fact has been underscored once again by the tens of thousands of ticket-buyers who have snatched up all the ducats to Coldplay’s two giant shows, May 31 and June 1, at Stanford Stadium.
Yes, both shows — which are part of the band’s Music Of The Spheres World Tour — are currently listed as being entirely sold out on the band’s website, coldplay.com.
The fact that this will be Coldplay’s first-ever appearances at Stanford Stadium shouldn’t surprise anyone. After all, the facility — which is the home of Stanford football — is hardly known as a concert venue.
Indeed, to the best of our knowledge, Coldplay will be the first major rock band to ever perform at this version of Stanford Stadium (which built in 2005).
The facility did, however, host an electronic dance music event with Zedd in 2017.
