Saratoga High School’s Marching Band and Color Guard placed second in a field of 33 competitors at the Western Band Association Regional Championships held Nov. 4-5 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Saratoga’s percussion section was awarded the highest score in its category.
Building on that success, Saratoga High’s Percussion Studio has been selected as one of the performing ensembles at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago in late December, marking the fourth time a Saratoga High ensemble has been chosen to perform at this conference and the first time the percussion section has earned this honor.
The Midwest clinics draws over 20,000 educators, musicians and industry leaders from around the world. The 34 members of Saratoga High’s Percussion Studio will have the opportunity to connect with college recruiters, industry leaders and nearly 100 companies and organizations featured at the event, according to a release from the Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District.
Members of the Percussion Studio were set to perform a preview concert for the clinic on Nov. 20. Other Saratoga High ensembles have winter concerts scheduled in December at the school’s McAfee Center. The jazz and choir concert is set for Dec. 5, followed by the band concert on Dec. 10 a performance by the orchestra on Dec. 12. All concerts start at 7 p.m.
