The Mother Of A Toddler Who Drowned At Camp Cohen Water Park Has Been Arrested
According to Elkhart, Indiana court records and jail records, the mother of a toddler who drowned at Camp Cohen Water Park, named Jessica Weaver, 35, was apprehended on August 30 on a fugitive from justice warrant for allegedly injuring a child by omission from El Paso.
Online jail records show that the mother of a toddler who drowned at Camp Cohen Water Park is being held without bond at the Elkhart County Correctional Complex. On September 18, she will appear in court in Indiana. She refused to be extradited.
Anthony Leo Malave, the toddler who drowned in Camp Cohen Water Park, passed away in a hospital on May 14, a day after he and his mother were discovered unconscious in a pool at Camp Cohen Water Park, located at 7900 Gateway North Blvd. in Northeast El Paso.
Police detectives from the Crimes Against Persons Unit looked into the child’s death and conducted extensive witness interviews and videotape gatherings, according to Hicks.
According to Hicks, there are signs at Cohen water park that state children must be supervised by an adult. He answered, “She wasn’t doing that.”
It’s crucial to recognize that the lifeguards who were present are not babysitters, according to Hicks.

According to CBS Austin, the boy’s mother and her attorney contend that the city was more focused on getting people into the park for a soft opening of Cohen Water Park than it was on keeping them safe.
According to the lawsuit, the city displayed its lack of concern by publicizing a job that required only that the candidate be at least 16 years old and had no experience requirements.
The city is charged with erasing surveillance footage taken in Cohen water park on the day of the drowning, according to the lawsuit.
El Paso’s District Attorney Bill Hicks stated during a press conference on Tuesday that the Weaver didn’t provide the child enough care, which is why the DA is seeking criminal charges against her.
