Seaford has a poverty rate of 17.1%, which is 22.14% higher than the national average. The average Seaford household earns $52840 per year, compared to the national median of $67,500. The city’s overall crime rate is 177.37% greater than the national average. The city’s violent crime rate is 178.45% greater than the national average. While the city’s property crime rate is 177.15% greater than the national average.

Newport is also one of the worst places to live in Delaware, since it ranks 14th in terms of unemployment, first in terms of poverty, and first in terms of lowest median income in the state. Newport has a poverty rate of 40.3%, which is 187.86% more than the national average. The average Newport household earns $36071 per year, compared to the national median of $67,500. Financial difficulties are relatively widespread in the city, with one in every two individuals living below the poverty line, well exceeding the national poverty rate of 14.1%.

One of the worst places to live in Delaware is Laurel, in which it ranks 37th in terms of unemployment, second in terms of poverty, and second in terms of lowest median income. The city is also ranked fifth in the state for overall crime, third for violent crime, and sixth for property crime. Laurel has a poverty rate of 33.4%, which is 138.57% more than the national average. The average Laurel household earns $37857 per year, compared to the national median of $67,500. Financial difficulty is relatively widespread in the city, with one out of every three residents living below the poverty line, well exceeding the national poverty rate of 14.1%.

While Delaware has a few cities with higher crime rates than others, this does not inevitably mean that you are in danger whether you live here or drive through.

According to House Grail, Delaware may be more risky than its neighboring states. It does, however, have a lower violent crime rate than the national average, making it safer than most other states. Assaults and theft are common in the worst places to live in Delaware.

Wilmington, Felton, Dover, Milford, Millsboro, Camden, Kent Acres are also on the list of the worst places to live in Delaware.
