OAKLAND — Hoping to generate leads, homicide investigators on Thursday released surveillance images of two suspects and the vehicle they used in the Jan. 13 fatal shooting of a man in East Oakland.
Derrick Scott, 29, who lived in the area, was killed in the shooting, which happened about 3 p.m. Jan. 13 in the 9400 b lock of A Street.
Police have not released a motive for the killing.
Scott was shot multiple times as he was driving when two gunmen in another car pulled over and opened fire at him. The suspects’ vehicle has been described as a black, four-door Lexus ES 350 that appeared to a have noticeable damage on the front driver’s-side fender.
Scott crashed into another vehicle while attempting to avoid the shots. He was transported to a hospital and died later that day.
A parked car was also struck by gunfire but no one else was hit.
Scott was Oakland’s sixth homicide victim of 2024.
