Travis Kelce’s ex Kayla Nicole is speaking out about the “level of hate” she’s received since the Kansas City Chiefs tight end started dating Taylor Swift.
The 32-year-old sports commentator admitted she’s still affected by the backlash she’s faced since the Super Bowl champ and Grammy winner kicked off their love story.
“I would be lying if I said that that level of hate and just, like, online chaos didn’t impact me. It does. Even to this day,” Kayla Nicole, who dated Kelce on-and-off for five years ending in 2022, said on Thursday’s episode of the “Unapologetically Angel” podcast. “You can go to my most recent post and it will be people debating each other why I am worthless and I’ll never be a talented person and I have no career.”
Adding that she’s “never done anything to warrant that kind of backlash,” Nicole said she believes “there’s something about that level of fame that attracts crazy people.”
Though Nicole said she still considers Kelce “a great guy,” she now limits their interactions to little more than “a head nod,” given their mutual awareness of “the nature of his new situation.”
Anything further, she said, would be “spun into something crazy. So we just keep it moving.”
The fervor surrounding the Kelce-Swift romance — which started in summer 2023 and first became public that September — has also left Nicole wary of dating in the public eye.
“People can’t pick at what they don’t know about. I would just protect my relationships from here on out,” she said.
