Difference Between Social Security Schedule Payments and Schedule of SSI Payments
Unlike Social Security schedule payments, SSI payments do not follow the same pattern each month. SSI recipients receive two payments in March, June, September, and December due to a glitch in the payment schedule, while no payments are made in January, April, July, and October. The following four months are covered by a single check: February, May, August, and November.
According to the Social Security Administration, the average monthly Social Security payout in July 2023 was $1,703.98. The average monthly retirement benefit was $1,790.56. Both of these statistics are much higher than last year, thanks to a cost-of-living increase of 8.7% for 2023, the most in more than four decades.
