About 3 a.m. Thursday a 22-year-old Oakland man was shot multiple times in the 1400 block of 19th Avenue in the San Antonio district.
The shooting activated a gunshot detection system. But when officers got to the scene they only found numerous shell casings and blood splatters.
It turned out the wounded man had been driven to a hospital by another person. That person did not remain at the hospital to talk to police.
Investigators will be talking to the victim as soon as he is able. The man lives in another part of Oakland and investigators are hoping to find out what he was doing in the area where he was shot, why he was shot and if can give them any suspect information.
About 10:50 p.m. Wednesday police responded to the 5400 block of Ygnacio Avenue where they found a 39-year-old man, who lives on the block, with a gunshot wound to his leg.
The man told police he had been shot a few minutes earlier while in his vehicle in the 2500 block of Courtland Avenue, more than a mile away, by another man. The victim was able to drive to his Ygnacio Avenue where police were called.
A motive for the shooting is under investigation. No arrests have been made.
Police are asking anyone with any information about the shootings to contact investigators at 510-238-3426. Anyone with videos and photos of the shootings can email them to [email protected].
