Secretary Kody Kinsley, announced on Monday that uncertainty over the state budget may push the launch of Medicaid expansion in NC into next year.

SOURCE– Secretary Kody Kinsley said, the lack of a definitive date for a state spending plan, means thousands of Americans will not have access to health care. Last Monday, Kinsley announced that uncertainty over the state budget may push to launch the Medicaid expansion in NC in 2024, which Medicaid expansion in NC supposedly to launch this coming October 2023.
The Department of Health and Human Services [DHHS) had hoped that Medicaid expansion in NC is expected to provide health insurance to thousands of low-income North Carolinians this year. Kinsley announced that they would not be able to have the budget passed in time and enacted. It is a tragic loss of health insurance for thousands of Americans delaying the expansion that their families need it badly.
The proposal will allow the DHHS to circumvent the political stalemate and begin working to officially launch Medicaid expansion in NC this coming October 2023, was failed to receive the necessary go-ahead from the General Assembly. Kinsley said that they will be going to work to try, to make it happen this year. He added that the DHHS only needs their thumbs-up to move forward.
