Saybrook, Conn: Ages ago Authorities in Connecticut reported that three passengers went missing on Monday after their boat apparently struck a jetty; they were not wearing life jackets.
The North Madison Volunteer Fire Company posted on Facebook that there was a significant marine issue near Old Saybrook.
A mass casuality
The event was deemed “a mass casuality incident” by them, meaning that the quantity and severity of casualties exceeded the emergency medical services’ capacity to provide personnel and equipment.
According to the fire department, the Guilford dive team, boats, personnel, and ambulances from nearby towns were all there at the incident.
Helicopters from the Coast Guard and an air ambulance service, LifeStar, were present to aid in the search. About 30 miles (48 kilometers) to the east of New Haven is Old Saybrook.
