Deadline Approaches for TD Bank Settlement and Customers Advised to Act Quickly

According to the report of The US Sun, TD Bank customers have only two weeks left to respond to a $32.225 million settlement regarding potentially improper overdraft fees. This settlement addresses allegations that TD Bank charged overdraft fees on transactions initially approved when accounts had sufficient funds but later became negative. Customers with personal checking accounts between June 27, 2019 and September 30, 2022 must either opt out of the settlement or object to it by September 14, 2024. Those who do not take action will automatically receive compensation based on the fees they incurred.

As part of the settlement, $21.975 million will be distributed to affected customers. Current account holders will receive credits to their accounts while former customers will receive checks. Additionally, $10.25 million will be allocated to reduce some outstanding balances related to these fees. Customers should review their options soon to meet the deadline as no claim forms are required to receive payments.
