According to TCD The Cool Down, Americans can soon take advantage of government rebates of up to $14,000 to reduce their energy costs thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. This important law aims to encourage energy-efficient home upgrades and fight climate change. The Home Electrification and Appliance Rebate Program (HEAR) is a key part of this initiative. It provides substantial financial support to low-to-moderate income households for various home improvements such as installing heat pumps smart thermostats and better insulation. These upgrades help make homes more energy-efficient and lower utility bills.

The HEAR program is part of the Inflation Reduction Act which also includes the Home Efficiency Rebates program and other tax credits. Lauren Urbanek from the Natural Resources Defense League says these programs are the biggest federal investment ever in climate solutions for buildings. They aim to make energy-efficient upgrades more affordable and help homeowners save on utility bills. Homeowners can also spread out their upgrades over time to get the most benefit.
