According to the lonestar923, 2024 list of most dangerous cities, several cities in Texas have made the top 10. However, the good news is that Midland and Odessa, both located in West Texas, did not make the top 10. Instead, they fell in the top 20. As residents of the area, it’s natural to want to know where our cities rank on the list.

A Closer Look at the Top 10 Cities in Texas

Waco, located in central Texas, comes in at number 10 on the list, with a population of 140,911 and a violent crime rate of 3.94 per 1000 persons. Mesquite, a suburb of Dallas, is ranked 9th, with a population of 147,226 and a violent crime rate of 3.99 per 1000 persons. Pasadena, a suburb of Houston, is ranked 8th, with a population of 145,954 and a violent crime rate of 4.66 per 1000 persons.

The Top Cities in Texas: Where Do They Rank on the List?

Dallas itself comes in at number 7 on the list, with a population of 1,286,121 and a violent crime rate of 5.32 per 1000 persons. San Antonio is ranked 5th, with a population of 1,465,608 and a violent crime rate of 5.42 per 1000 persons. Corpus Christi is ranked 4th, with a population of 317,694 and a violent crime rate of 6.40 per 1000 persons.

A Look at Midland and Odessa: Where Do They Rank on the List?

But what about Midland and Odessa? According to the FBI’s report, Midland comes in at number 16 on the list, with a population of 129,945 and a violent crime rate of 3.38 per 1000 persons. Odessa is ranked number 19, with a population of 110,163 and a violent crime rate of 3.17 per 1000 persons. While these numbers are certainly concerning, they are still lower than many other cities in Texas.
