Texas Man Daniel Garcia Sentenced to Life for Fatally Beating 5-Year-Old
Bexar County Court Convicts Daniel Garcia for Child’s Death; Life Sentence Imposed
According to True Crime News, a Texas man, Daniel Garcia, 29, was sentenced to life in prison this week for fatally beating his girlfriend’s 5-year-old son, Domenic Aguilar-Acevedo, in 2021. The Bexar County Criminal District Attorney’s Office said Garcia was convicted of causing serious injury to a child after prosecutors chose not to pursue a murder charge. They called this decision a strategic move. Video evidence showed Garcia carrying what looked like a child’s body from a hotel room in San Antonio, Texas, where the beating took place. Afterward, Garcia and his girlfriend, Nickolle Aguilar, reportedly drove to a campsite in Colorado and buried Domenic’s body in a ravine.

Garcia and Aguilar Arrested After Fleeing to Costa Rica; Domenic’s Abuse Confirmed
The couple fled to Mexico and then Costa Rica, where Domenic’s grandmother confronted them and reported her concerns to the police. The grandmother described signs of severe physical abuse and said Garcia had thrown Domenic against a wall. Aguilar, who pleaded guilty to causing serious injury to a child by failing to act, was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Officials eventually found Domenic’s body in Colorado, and an autopsy confirmed the abuse. Both Garcia and Aguilar were arrested in Florida and brought back to Texas for trial. Bexar County Criminal District Attorney Joe Gonzales said the evidence was “tragic and painful from beginning to end.”
