Mother Pleads Guilty to Killing Infant Son in Boulder Tragedy
Englund Sentenced to 40 Years After Driving Hours with Baby’s Body
According to True Crime News, in a devastating case that has stunned the Boulder community, Anna Englund has admitted to the second-degree murder of her 2-month-old son Miles. The tragic events unfolded on June 10, 2023 when Englund’s partner worried about her mental health after childbirth alerted the Boulder Police Department. The partner had been closely monitoring Englund and their baby. When the partner briefly left the room Englund took the opportunity to leave with Miles setting off a series of distressing events.
Englund drove around for several hours with her infant son’s lifeless body before police finally intercepted her near Boulder Community Hospital at about 10:20 p.m. Despite their best efforts the baby was declared dead at the emergency room at 10:48 p.m. The Boulder County District Attorney’s Office called the situation profoundly tragic emphasizing the severe emotional impact of Englund’s actions on everyone involved. On August 7, 2024 Englund was sentenced to 40 years in prison at the Colorado Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to the charges. District Attorney Michael Dougherty stated that the sentence is a fitting response to the gravity of the crime and the deep sadness it has caused. He emphasized that while the sentence cannot undo the tragedy, it reflects the serious nature of the offense and the profound grief experienced by the family and community.
