According to CBS News, New York has started sending out checks as part of a $350 million program to help families with the Empire State Child Tax Credit. The state began mailing the first round of payments on Monday and will continue to send out more than 10,000 checks each day for the next two weeks. By the end of the month, over one million families could receive up to $330 per child.

Governor Kathy Hochul emphasized that these payments are meant to provide financial relief as families prepare for back-to-school expenses. If you qualified for the Child Tax Credit in 2023 and filed your taxes on time, you will automatically receive this payment without needing to apply. The program is focused on helping low- and moderate-income families.
