The high-temperature warnings were in effect to eastern Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, and the Florida Panhandle. The historic heat temperature wave stretched over portions of Mississippi and Louisiana. The ERCOT asked 30 million residents of the states to voluntarily reduce power usage because of the high temperature that will create a high electricity demand. Peak heat-index readings are expected at 119 degrees F, across the entire area.
The Dallas area will soon to experience a slight cooler temperature. The high temperature is only going to be 103 degrees F on Sunday, but Monday and Tuesday highs are just mid-90s which will be pretty good for a lot of residents.
