Millions Eligible for Cash App Settlement Over Data Breaches
Affected Users Can Claim Up to $2,500 with Proper Documentation
According to The U.S. Sun, millions of Cash App users could get money from a $15 million settlement over data breaches from 2022 to 2023. The lawsuit says Cash App didn’t protect user data properly. The 2022 breach was due to an employee accessing accounts without permission and the 2023 breach involved a third party using old phone numbers. Even though Cash App denies wrongdoing, they agreed to settle to avoid more legal trouble. The settlement is designed to compensate users affected by these security issues.
Cash App users who were impacted by these breaches could receive up to $2,500 provided they can document their losses. This compensation covers various expenses including credit costs, bank fees, travel expenses and up to three hours of lost time paid at $25 per hour. Users who experienced fraudulent transactions due to the breaches can also receive additional payment if they submit appropriate documentation such as receipts, account statements, and police reports. To be eligible for compensation affected individuals must file their claims by November 18 ensuring they provide all necessary evidence to support their claims.
