In a startling case, a judge ruled that 32-year-old Justin Mohn is fit to stand trial for the alleged murder and beheading of his father, Michael Mohn. This decision, made on Thursday, August 1, also granted Justin the right to hire a new attorney. During the hearing experts had differing opinions about Justin’s mental health. One expert stated that Justin appeared intelligent and aware while another expert, Dr. John Markey, claimed Justin suffered from delusions believing his lawyer was a federal agent and writing bizarre letters to the Russian ambassador, according to the report of True Crime Daily.
YouTube Video Reveals Brutal Acts of Violence
The gruesome incident occurred on January 30 when Justin’s mother, Denise Mohn discovered her husband’s beheaded body at home and notified the police. Officers found Michael Mohn’s head in a plastic bag inside a cooking pot in a bedroom. Later, a video was found on what is believed to be Justin’s YouTube channel where he held up his father’s head and declared his father “in hell for eternity.” The video also called for violence against federal agents and mentioned a U.S. District Court judge as a target.
Following the murder, Justin fled to the National Guard base at Fort Indiantown Gap where he was eventually apprehended. The medical examiner determined that Michael Mohn had been shot in the head before being decapitated with a kitchen knife and machete. Justin is now facing 15 charges including first-degree murder and terrorism. His trial will explore the full extent of his actions and his mental state.
