CashApp Settles Data Breach Case for $15 Million
Affected Users Could Receive Up to $2,500 in Compensation
According to tech.co, CashApp has agreed to pay $15 million to settle a class action lawsuit over data breaches that happened between 2022 and 2023. The lawsuit claimed that CashApp didn’t do enough to protect its users’ data leading to unauthorized access and fraudulent transactions. Although CashApp denies any wrongdoing the settlement will provide compensation to those affected. Individuals may receive up to $2,500 each depending on the impact of the breach.

How to Qualify and Claim Your Share of the CashApp Settlement
To qualify for a payout you need to be a current or former CashApp customer who experienced issues like unauthorized access to your personal information or fraudulent transactions between August 23, 2018 and August 20, 2024. To claim your share go to the official settlement website and complete a claim form. You may need to provide evidence of the breach’s impact such as receipts or police reports. If you received a Notice ID and Confirmation Code include them in your application.
You must submit your claim by November 18, 2024. If you want to object to the settlement do so by November 1, 2024. The final court hearing for the settlement is set for December 16, 2024. Payments will be made after this hearing, provided there are no further objections or issues.
