Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Elderly Mother in Denton Township
Suspect on Probation for Domestic Assault; Community Shocked by Tragic Incident
According to True Crime News, in Denton Township, Michigan a 60-year-old man named John Miko has been arrested for allegedly killing his 95-year-old mother Clara Miko. On the night of July 27 Clara called 911 from her garage apartment saying that her son had violently attacked her and was threatening to kill her. When deputies arrived they found Clara severely injured and unable to move. She was able to describe the attack before being taken to Grayling Munson Hospital for urgent medical care.
John Miko who was found intoxicated and uncooperative with law enforcement was located in the main house and was taken into custody without incident. At the time of the attack Miko was on active probation for a previous domestic assault which compounded the seriousness of the situation. The Roscommon County Sheriff’s Office managed to apprehend him and he was booked into the county jail. His prior probation status and the nature of the attack have made this case particularly distressing for the community.

John Miko Arraigned on Multiple Charges After Mother’s Death; Bond Set at $1 Million
Clara Miko passed away from her injuries at the hospital early the following morning. On July 31 John Miko appeared in court where he was formally arraigned on several charges including first-degree vulnerable adult abuse assault by strangulation and first-degree homicide. He remains held in the Roscommon County Jail with his bond set at $1 million. The case has shocked the local community highlighting the grave consequences of domestic violence and the tragic loss of Clara Miko.
