Claim Your Refund Before Deadline or Risk Losing Your Unclaimed Funds
Those who received these notices can claim their refunds in two ways. They can visit the website listed in the notice and follow the steps provided or complete and return the voucher that came with their July 26 letter. If they act before the deadline and the Department of Revenue will send out paper checks for their refunds.
Officials say that if refunds are not claimed by the deadline and they will still belong to the taxpayer but will be handled by the Unclaimed Property Division of the state treasurer’s office. Currently, there are no plans for a special legislative session on tax reform so taxpayers will need to use the existing process to retrieve their unclaimed funds.
