Eligible Families to Receive Up to $330 Per Child
On Monday, New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the state will start sending extra payments to over 1 million families with children. Starting August 5 and wrapping up by the end of the month and checks could be as much as $330 per child. The amount depends on income and the Empire State Child Credit claimed. Families who got at least $100 in credit will receive these payments automatically, according to the report of Lohud.

Empire State Child Credit Payments to Benefit Over 1 Million New Yorkers
These payments are part of a program to aid lower and moderate-income families. Based on the Empire State Child Credit and the payments could be 33% of a parent’s federal child tax credit or $100 per child, whichever is higher. The program covers families with incomes up to $110,000 for couples and $75,000 for singles with payments ranging from 100% of the credit for those under $10,000 in income to 25% for those over $50,000.
The $350 million for these payments comes from the state budget approved in April and following Assembly Democrats’ proposals. This is similar to a 2022 bonus and shows the state’s ongoing commitment to helping financially struggling residents. “We’re putting money back in the pockets of more than a million New Yorkers,” Governor Hochul said highlighting the state’s dedication to its people.
