The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has announced more charges against William Todd Lewis, Jr., 24. He was first arrested on July 8 for serious crimes like hitting a police officer and leaving a crash scene. The trouble started when Deputy Kalin Hall tried to stop Lewis for a traffic check but Lewis ran away. In a second attempt to stop him, Lewis ran over Deputy Hall breaking his leg. Hall has had surgery and is getting better.

Florida Man Arrested and Charged with Attempting to Kill Police Officer After High-Speed Chase
On July 22, the Sheriff’s Office added charges of trying to kill a police officer against Lewis. They also arrested Lewis’s mother Stephanie Brown, 47, for helping him escape. Sheriff Chad Chronister said he was distraught that a mother would allow her son after he hurt a police officer. He hoped these new arrests would help bring closure for Deputy Hall and his family.
After the incident, Lewis called his girlfriend for help. She then called his mom who picked him up and helped him hide. Detectives found Lewis’s abandoned car and arrested him and his friend Zachary Carnegie, 24, in Pasco County. Carnegie was charged with drug possession and helping Lewis escape. Lewis’s girlfriend, Keilise Garrison, 23 was also arrested for helping him and tampering with evidence, according to the report of ABC Action News.
