Corruption Scandal Rocks Sheriff’s Office – Fifth Person Convicted, Others Implicated
Jensen’s conviction makes him the fifth person caught in this scandal. It caused Sheriff Laurie Smith to resign in 2022 under pressure. She was later found guilty in a trial that removed her from office but never faced criminal charges. This case has shown a big problem with corruption in the sheriff’s office which has upset many people.
District Attorney Jeff Rosen thanked the jurors for following values like honesty and responsibility. Sheriff Robert Jonsen also backed the jury’s decision saying his administration won’t support such bad actions. Jensen will learn his punishment on September 9 and could get up to four years in state prison.
